An Analysis of EMF Social Policy and Mobile Phone Practices In Canada

We analyze Canada‟s social policy response to public health concerns about exposure to electromagnetic frequencies (EMF) related to mobile phone. The primary objective is to consider the factors that may or may not contribute to how Canadian policy makers interpret and enact policy with respect to EMF exposure standards. We utilize EMF as an example of a technological issue that has attracted controversy from a public health perspective (i.e., over 80 percent), this has not had an impact on policy agenda setting for EMF in Canada.

C4ST Gives All MP’s in Ottawa Ear Buds for Safe Cell Use – French Verison

ABOUT WENDY

Wendy Hoy, lives in Port Franks, Ontario and she has decided to walk to Ottawa to raise awareness about ES (Electrosensitivity). The distance for this walk is almost 800 km. Wendy has been working tirelessly since March 2012 to bring this lesser known but growing issue to the attention of the decision makers within our government and beyond.

Port Franks is the hamlet in the Municipality of Lambton Shores where the Municipality voted against a proposed cell tower/antenna installation and is investigating the feasibility of establishing a white/beige-zone.

Wendy's long walk to Ottawa commenced on September 20, 2012 from Port Franks. Citizens 4 Safe Technology fully supports Wendy's efforts and is accepting donations on her behalf.  With the help of C4ST, we are hoping to maximize the impact of Wendy’s feat.

We ask that you consider either pledging an amount per kilometre travelled or making a donation in advance of this incredible journey.

C4ST Officially Launches

Former Microsoft President Frank Clegg officially launches Citizens 4 Safe Technology. "I have concluded that Health Canada’s methods are out of date and safety limits are too weak to protect Canadians. China has limits that are 100 times stricter than ours. I worry we have a situation comparable to tobacco where Health Canada will be many years too late to take the appropriate action."

SELETUN STATEMENT – New International EMF Alliance announces scientific Consensus Statement: World Health Urgently Needs to Lower EMF Standards.

This is an update to the original statement in 2009 from the Scientific Panel. The Electromagnetic Fields Alliance has grown to over 50 health advocacy groups focused on electromagnetic fields. In addition to urging global governments to adopt significantly lower human exposure standards for electromagnetic fields, the report covers Ten Key Points. The points include suggesting the burden of proof for the safety of radiation-emitting technologies should fall on Produces and Providers, not Consumers and calling for an International Disease Registry to track Time Trends of the incidence of illnesses to correlate the illness with exposures.

Pediatricians Say Cell Phone Radiation Standards Need Another Look

It’s been 18 years since the U.S. government assessed the standards for cell phone radiation. That was back in 1996, long before the practice of giving your big kid a cell phone became as common as giving your little kid a bath. Both cell-phone technology and cell-phone use have changed in the interim, which is why last week the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) urged the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) to reconsider its radiation standards.
