Today is Valentine’s Day—a time for love—but did you know that you could be harming sperm by keeping a cell phone in your pocket?
For couples that are trying to conceive, you’re probably already following doctors’ orders to stay physically fit, avoid smoking and staying clear of hot-tubs—but there’s another danger lurking in your pants. Are you keeping a safe distance from cell phone radiation by keeping phones out of pants pockets?
As the above video demonstrates, sperm exposed to cell phone radiation for just 12 hours behave drastically different from sperm that has not been exposed to radiation. With many Canadian men storing their phones in the front pocket of their pants—they could unknowingly be damaging their sperm.
As technology becomes a bigger part of Canadians lives, we must demand that the Canadian government protects all citizens by acknowledging that the current assumptions about the safety of radiofrequency radiation (RFR) is outdated and must be revised. In addition, Health Canada must update Safety Code 6—the guidelines that establish safety limits for human exposure to radiofrequency (RF) electromagnetic energy.
This Valentine’s Day, ensure you’re keeping cell phones a safe distance from your body and encourage others to view this video by sharing it!
Canadians For Safe Technology is a not-for-profit, volunteer-based coalition of parents, citizens and experts whose mission is to educate and inform Canadians and policymakers about the dangers of wireless radiation exposure.
