Halton District School Board Writes to Health Minister Ambrose Re Safety Code 6
- 0 Comments
The Halton District School Board represent the interests of more than 60,000 students, 10,000
staff, as well as the many volunteers, family and community members who attend our schools
in the Halton Region. Each of our many schools and buildings have complete access to WiFi.
The Royal Society of Canada Expert Panel’s recommendations regarding “A Review of Safety
Code 6 (2013): Health Canada’s Safety Limits for Exposure to Radiofrequency Fields” was
released in April, 2014. As a result “Health Canada has previously committed to doing a
public consultation. Advice from the RSC’s Expert Panel, as well as comments received during
the upcoming public consultation, will be considered in the development of the final revised
version of Safety Code 6.”1 We also note, Health Canada has commenced a sixty day
consultation to receive public comments and comments that are due by July 15, 2014.
The Halton District School Board is committed to every student, and in order to inspire and
support learning, we need to create safe, healthy, inclusive and engaging environments to
provide opportunities for challenge and choice in order to prepare students for success.
As such we are writing Health Canada to strongly reinforce our support and encourage prompt
investigation and follow-up to The Royal Society of Canada Expert Panel’s recommendations
regarding “A Review of Safety Code 6 (2013): Health Canada’s Safety Limits for Exposure to
Radiofrequency Fields”.
