Woodgreen Presbyterian Church has entered into an agreement with Rogers Communications, which will allow for the erection of another (3rd) cell tower at the corner of Elbow Drive and Canyon Meadows Drive S.W. in Calgary, Alberta.
Summary
It was recently disclosed that Woodgreen Presbyterian Church has two (2) cell tower transmitters concealed within its bell tower -‐ a fact that was unknown to many residents, students and workers in our communities. They now wish to erect a 3rd tower in the North East corner of their parking lot.
Canyon Meadows is one of the few neighborhoods in the City of Calgary with 4 schools: 2 Elementary, a Junior High and a Senior High. The neighbourhood is also home to a number of day homes and two childcare centres. Canyon Meadows has a Recreation Pool where children and families visit everyday, a dance studio for children, 4 fields where kids play and train for soccer during Spring and Summer months. There are also 2 outdoor hockey rinks and a snow hill.
The long-‐term health effects for those living within a sizable radius of these transmission towers have not been proven, but health concerns and studies are on the rise. The WHO organization has recently classified them as possibly carcinogenic. It is inappropriate that Rogers and Woodgreen Presbyterian Church should endanger the health of the members of these communities, and that of the children who attend school there.
The question is:
Do there need to be so many cell towers located so
close together in one community? The answer is:
NO!
